NASA Scientist Talks About TESS And The Search For Alien Life

Updated: Jun 29, 2020

In this special episode, we interview Nasa scientist Tom Barclay to find out how COVID-19 has been effecting NASA, How TESS gas been doing on its search for alien life, Tom's opinion on recently released UFO footage and how well the NASA fortnight team is doing.

The above video is the full episode of the Quarantine Quality podcast, you can find a clip of Dr Tom Barclay talking about recently released UFO footage, as well as an exclusive interview when the TESS satellite first launched in 2017.

Commentary on the UFO footage, exoplanets and intelligent alien life

NASA Scientist Dr Tom Barclay talks about the footage recently released by the US Department of Defence and talks about how, and why we should look for intelligent alien life outside our solar system.

The Pentagon released on Monday, April 27th, three declassified videos that show US navy pilots encountering what appear to be unidentified flying objects.

The videos, which the Pentagon says depict “unexplained aerial phenomena, have been circulating for several years and some believe them to be proof of alien life.

The Pentagon said it released the footage to “to clear up any misconceptions by the public on whether or not the footage that has been circulating was real or whether or not there is more to the videos”.

Interview when TESS (Transiting Exoplanet Satellite System) was first launched

In this Interview, NASA Scientist Tom Barclay, director of the Science Support Centre for the TESS mission discussed NASA's mission of mapping the universe and finding alien life.

On October 1957, The Sputnik 1 made by the Soviet Union successfully launched and entered Earth’s Orbit. This was the first step towards the race for space exploration.

We are living in an exciting time for astronomical discovery. To explore, witness and understand the universe, is one of the greatest human adventures.

We still do not understand much of this vast horizon, but we are making technology that will unravel some of its secrets.

In 2017, NASA launched its new planet-hunting satellite in search for habitable planets.

This will be the first satellite to map over 80 per cent of the skies and will focus on Earth-like planets that can sustain life.

Life outside our solar system has always been part of our imagination. But as weird as it may sound, a lot of science has been found to be like science fiction.

This opens the possibility of life on other planets, potentially changing how we approach space exploration.

While we might not discover life immediately, this can certainly lead to incredible discoveries.
